Farriers nail inspired equestrian jewellery.

​​Hello and a warm welcome to my website. If you have not seen my range before, I will explain a little about the jewellery I design,manufacture, sell and why. I need to let you know, you can only buy direct from myself via this website or from my trade stand at equestrian events. I work with one exceptional silversmith, one amazing engraver and the best family of fellow equestrians of all disciplines. All my items are  solid Silver or Gold hallmarked, hand finished and are 100% British manufacture this ensures they the quality that I am happy to put my name to.

When I had my own shops selling other brands, I  realised that jewellery is less about the price tag but what it means to the person who wears it or buys it. I made a farriers nail necklace for a young lady in 2008 and thought
" Wow what a great shape, just think of the things you could do with that"...

Time passed and I often thought about that nail and the poem above, that wee nail the thing that holds everything together. It just took meeting a less than honest supplier who tried to pass off Mexican silver as Scottish some eight years later to make me cross enough to put my  idea into practice. Tarrag Naegel was born in 2016, if there is no nail in the design it is not my jewellery. Each Collection has been inspired by my journey from shops to fields and the amazing experience that has been. These are just my own inspiration, when you own a piece of Tarrag Naegel jewellery its significance will be of your own making. Every piece is Hallmarked solid Silver or Gold, hand finished to be as individual as you are.

The collections :-

Classic Tarrag Naegel Collection
Capturing the classic elegant shape and proportions of the Farriers Nail. My inspiration is the idea that they hold everything together a direct reference to" For the want of a Nail", I always think of them as something to hold on to. For some they relate to nails and their beliefs, as seen in my beautiful Cross design. For me they will always be the Acorn which grew into a Forest.

The Farriers Loop Collection
The shape of a looped Farriers Nail representing the circle of life . The equestrian world is such a close family across all disciplines ages and fields. We all share such a strong sense of life long passion. We may think we can grow out of our first love but most of us return at some point. Life has proved to be a circle, so many people have come back into my life through my work. Since 2016 I have found people I worked with in my 20's,Pony Clubbed with in my teens, and helped raise my children.


The Stirrup Collection
Inspired by a challenge from a customer who wanted stirrups. I would only make them if I could keep my nails in there.
So they hide discreetly on the side of the stirrups slightly overshadowed by the authentic treads. For me I always see the stirrup as stability, as a good rider you should not be lost without them but as stabilizers they sure help.


With a Twist Collection
​A contemporary design following life's twists and turns. It may also be as we get older we all get a little twisted, it maybe the Gin, an essential part of life as a show Gypsy. Travelling round the shows, events and race meetings are a fabulous community of fellow traders, staff ,volunteers,farriers, trainers, jockeys, stable staff and supporters. Equestrians are a very close knit family. They work long days,play hard, they survive on dark humor and a passion for their Horses and Dogs.

Spur of the Moment Collection
​"When a Knight won his Spurs in the stories of old, he was Gallant and Brave he was Nobel and Bold."
The words above the first line of another favorite piece of inspiration, I wanted to make something that represent the importance moving forward or overcoming adversity. "Kicking on" but keeping those nails to hang on to. I love my little spur range and having heard the stories of those who have bought it, I am certain it has inspired others.

The Perfect Plait Collection -
​We all need something to aspire to, we all wanted to win that best turned out prize. So what better than a Perfect Plait. Not my idea but it has been a challenge again from a regular customer but the first prototypes are in place and I should be ready to launch later in 2020

Special Occasions
I specialise in making something a little bit different for special occasions from brides with their "Something Blue" , special birthdays  and memorial pieces. The extra touch of personal engraving and significant  stones can make such a difference. I like to be subtle so often pieces carry something significant which will only mean something to those that know its meaning. 

I am always ready to hear your ideas and love to hear your stories. My job is a real privilege I am the keeper of stories and the maker of memories. I don't employ others as I like to give you my time and experience to ensure you get the best service I can give you. If there is someone on my stand they will be a relative or friend who has given their time to support my business. The website is not perfect, the trade stand is sometimes a little chaotic and I maybe windswept and interesting. However I promise to do my best for you and I hope you love my Jewellery.

Recent News

Well its the end of January already! We have had some fabulous racing at Kelso over the winter but now preparations are well underway for the 2020 season.

This year I will be doing more travelling to Racing in the south and more Eventing at home, I have neglected the Scottish smaller events over the last twelve months but have been lured back by the wonderful "GIN IT TO WIN IT"
Challenge supported by some great people and super small businesses. Rumor has it we may even see Lucinda Russell back on the course!!! Don't worry those in the south I still plan to do a few but it will be a bit flexible this season.


This is a good time of year to remind you I make bespoke pieces for special occasions such as weddings, I also make and design Engagement, Wedding And Eternity Rings. This is a good time to talk to me before it all gets a bit hectic please email, phone or message me.
